Autoclave is the name of an equipment used to sterilize instruments in chemical laboratories, industrial, pharmaceuticals, hospitals and beauty salons. What distinguishes them is that the vertical equipment has the door on top, and the instruments are stored vertically, while the horizontal autoclave has the door on one side.
Autoclaves can also be of the horizontal or vertical type. The horizontal type are currently the most used, as they have double walls separated by a space where the steam circulates to keep the heat in the inner chamber during sterilization, preventing the formation of condensate, and is more effective in the sterilization process. The vertical type have a relatively lower cost, as they are much simpler in their construction, they are not as efficient, as they hinder steam circulation, air drainage and steam penetration due to the distribution of packages to be sterilized, which remain superimposed.
