Things to Know About Body Sculpting

Body sculpting Madison Alabama is becoming a lot more popular, as people look for ways to reduce fat deposits on their bodies that don't involve major surgery.  In most cases, body sculpting can be done over a lunch break through one or a series of appointments that will use extreme temperatures, sonic vibrations, or acid injections to break down fat cells.  Because the procedures are so non-invasive, however, a lot of people wonder if they really work.  The short answer is yes, but there are some things you need to be aware of if you decide to have one of these procedures done.

1.  Body sculpting is not for weight loss

Weight loss procedures such as stomach stapling can result in dramatic weight loss over a short period of time.  Procedures like liposuction can remove a dozen or more pounds of fat within a couple of weeks. Body sculpting, however, rarely results in the loss of more than a single pound of fat.  These procedures tend to just remove small pockets of fat, such as a wobble under the chin or on the upper arms.  While body sculpting can be done on areas such as the abdomen, it's generally not recommended for people who have a large or medium amount of fat in the area.

2.  Body sculpting takes time

The results from body sculpting won't be seen when you leave the office.  Often it is necessary to wait several days or weeks before the fat that has been destroyed is fully flushed from the area and the swelling decreases.  That means it's not a quick fix, but it will work.

3.  There might be some minor side effects

The most common problems are skin irritation from the injection site or the wands that are used.  This isn't a big deal to most people, but be aware of it if you have particularly sensitive skin or if you're thinking of having the procedure done in an area that is very exposed, such as the face or neck.  Other side effects include mild nausea, usually assumed to be from your body adjusting to the release of fat or (in the case of injections) an influx of the acid used to break down the fat.  The best way to prevent this is to drink a lot of water before and after the procedure. This will help your body flush out the now-dead fat cells very quickly.
