  • The number should be more than 90 days old with the current telecom operator

  • All contractual obligations have been fulfilled

  • If the number being ported is a postpaid connection all the outstanding bills need to be cleared

Once the above criteria have been met successfully, you can move on to the next step which is placing the porting request.

  • Visit the Airtel Porting page at https://www.airtel.in/mnp and select the preferred plan between the introductory plans

  • Click on “Buy Now” to proceed to the next field, providing your address and other details for your SIM delivery and KYC collection

  • Sent the SMS with the text “PORT<Your 10 digit mobile number> to the TRAI number 1900

  • You will shortly receive your porting code valid for 4 days

  • On the scheduled date and time be prepared for the executive to share your valid identity and address proof along with the Unique Porting Code

  • Your porting request will be processed within 48 hours of successful submission of KYC documents and up to 4 days in case of porting to a different circle

  • Your old SIM card will become inactive and stop receiving signals at which point you need to insert your new and activated Airtel SIM card into your phone

  • You can monitor the entire process by installing the Airtel Thanks App and logging in using your mobile number

 

If you are not interested in carrying out the process online, you can also visit the Airtel store with your KYC related valid ID and Address proof, and UPC. You will be handed over the SIM card that will be activated within the next 2 days.
